My tutorial for this week are these cute candle holders!
I had a bunch of tissue paper left over from this project. I saw the idea first on this blog, and though it looked easy and cute enough to give it a go!
Supplies:
-two glass containers (i got mine for a buck each at AC Moore)
-tissue paper
-paper punch
-mod podge
-paint brush
Steps:
Step 1: Punch out a bunch of different tissue paper shapes
I used four different colors:
Step 2: Start Mod Podging tissue paper onto the glass container
For my first coat I just did the bottom, left the very top open. I also added two layers of the yellow designs because the Mod Podge bled through them most.
Step 3: Let the first coat dry, and then add another layer over top. Make sure to get the top rim this time! Here's what it looks like with a second coat all dry!
It looks so cool with a candle inside! I has a beautiful glow:

They would look super cute on an end table or mantle I think... unfortunately my dorm room has neither of them so they can chill out on my dresser until I move out!

I have battery operated tea-lights and lots of them because of the no fire rule. I even got some cool color changing ones at Target- $2 for a 4 pack! :)

What a great craft this is, huh? My daughter made me one of these years ago when she was little, but she just ripped off pieces of tissue, and applied to a medium jar without the lid. Modge Podge is SUCH great stuff!!

Hey so I have all my stuff to try these, was going to make as a Christmas present - but the tissue paper rips like crazy when I try to punch the shapes. It's a brand new paper punch but I even tried sharpening it with foil like the paper punch package says. Any suggestions?
Amanda,I folded the tissue paper and cut through multiple layers at once so it would be more thick. That worked for me! Hope that helps!
