Owl Charm Necklace Tutorial

Today my cute friend Caitlin brought me these two little charms and asked if I could make them into a necklace for her.

Well of course I can! And you can too. Here's how!

Supplies
-Charms
-Extra beads
-Head pins
-Jump Rings
-Chain
-Clasp
-Wire cutters
-Round Nose Pliers
-Needle Nose Pliers

In the future I would try to match the metal color of the charm to the chain, etc. This project was a little short notice though and I only had silver/gold available.  We thought the silver looked nice with the rhinestones on the owl's belly.

Steps

Step 1: Pick out a couple other beads that will complement your main charms.  We will make these beads into charms too!

Put the bead on a headpin,

Bend the headpin back at a 90 degree angle with your needle nose pliers

Trim the excess wire with wire cutters

And then bend into a circle using round nose pliers.

Step 2: Add this charm onto a jump ring, and then squeeze the circle shut with needle nose pliers.

Step 3: Add on the other beads you choose and one of the main charms.

Step 4: Connect this jump ring to a jump ring holding the owl charm with another jump ring.

Step 5: Thread some chain through the top jump ring

Step 6: Add a clasp onto the end of the chain

And now you have a cute owl charm necklace!!

I'll be linking this up to all the parties in my header!

  1. That is super cute!! Even though the metal isnt the same I actually think the silver looks good too. I hardly even noticed it was different until you said that. LOL When I make jewelry I too try to do it all matching.. sometimes that doesnt always happen.. but it still looks great!
