Skirt to Dress with Flower Belt Tutorial

So, I found this old skirt of mine.

I got it at kohls awhile ago. I don't know what I was thinking though, because it's pretty ugly. It's an awkward length and weird flowy and reminds me of a poodle skirt.

Yeah. not doing anything for me.

SO. I decided to make it into a dress! First thing I did was make a cute accent belt to give it shape. I made flower accents for it out of satin flower. I cut out various size circles out of satiny fabric.

And then used a hand-held lighter to burn the edges so they would curl up.

I hot-glued them on top of each other to form the flower.

I made three flowers and hot glued them onto some ribbon.

I also hot glued some pink rhinestones on for a little more flair :)

Then I sewed on some straps, tied the flower belt around my waist, and now I have a cute summery dress!

So much better than that old awkward poodle skirt!

Have any old ugly skirts?? Think twice before chucking them!!

I'll be sharing this with all the link parties in my header including Today's Creative Blog and Christina's Adventures
