Fabric Covered Button Earrings

Now, I know this is not an original tutorial. I've seen it on a bunch of blogs before, so I wouldn't even know who to link credit to. There is a good reason it is so popular, these earrings are so easy to make, are super cute, only take a few supplies, and there are endless possibilities to different kinds to make.

Here are my two favorite versions I made:

Here's how to make a pair for yourself!

-Button kit
-Scrap Fabric
-Needle Nose Pliers
-Earring backs & hot glue (not pictured)

Step 1: Cut your fabric into circle shapes using the template provided on the button kit. (Like the hounds tooth? Me too! Best thing about it- it came from a scarf I got a flea market for only 25 cents!)

Step 2: Remove the button part from the back of the button kit using pliers. Get a good grip! This can be a little bit difficult.

Step 3: Create the fabric button using the button mold kit. Put the fabric into the mold, then the front button form. Use the pusher provided to push the back of the button onto the front, squishing all the fabric in with it. It should pop letting you know you did it right!

Already so cute!

Step 4: Hot glue earring backs onto the back of the buttons.

Step 5:  Attempt to take non-lame pictures of your cute new earrings in the bathroom mirror.
Easier said than done.

You only need a tiny bit of fabric for each set of earrings, so you can make a ton!! Here's where mine is from: Polka dot fabric was a remnant from Walmart, Hounds tooth was a scarf, geometric blue was from a fat quarter at Joanns, and the last set was from leftovers of my failed quilting project.

I'll be sharing this with all the link parties in my header including Today's Creative Blog and Christina's Adventures
