So I went to a big thrift store in my town for the first time the other week. It was a salvation army, and everything was surprisingly expensive!!! I was getting kind of discouraged. That is, until I hit the skirt section.
Mennonite Goldmine.
See, we have a lot of mennonites in our area. And they wear a lot of very long skirts. And I guess they are the one thing the salvation army does not mark up a ton!
Check out this one I found:
Yeah, pretty ugly as is. But it was only 99 cents!!
So, I bought it, chopped, pinned, ironed and sewed. I even used a sewing machiene! I feel so domesticated. And the hem looks semi-decent! Well, just don't stand tooooo close when you look at it :)
Shirt: Forever 21. Skirt: THRIFTED. Belt: gift. Shoes: Payless.
I don't know why my face turned out so fuzzy. Oh well. Look at my cute new skirt, not my face.
I think I could get used to this refashion thing! I have an ugly pink skirt in the pile up next!
I wish I could sew! Oh the things I could re-create! But I have crafty friends, so maybe I'll hit them up to help me! Love the new look!
ReplyDeleteVery Cute! I just cropped some pants. I had the cutest pair of gray dress pants. I ran over the hem with my chair at work. So bad that I had to cut them! So I made crops :)

ReplyDeleteIs that what they're called? Mennonites? Good to know. Love the skirt!
ReplyDeleteLove it with the hemline raised -- very flattering!
ReplyDeleteCute! It looks great with the shorter hemline and the little white belt was the perfect addition too. Can't wait to see what you do with the pink one that you bought! I love refashion posts. :-)
