White Jeggings and Flowy Tank Outfit with Kiki La Rue

You know what I never imagined being able to do when I was 246 pounds? Wear a pair of WHITE PANTS and feel confident in them!!! I feel like white pants can be so unforgiving...depending on the brand and how thick they are I feel like so many kinds show cellulite through them and I just never found a pair that looked flattering on me when I was heavy.  So for like the first time in my life I FOUND a pair of white pants that I am ROCKING and think would look great on anyone else too!

These Everyday Jeggings from Kiki La Rue fit like buttah and I'm dying over how comfy they are to wear and how AMAZING they look on! They are a great thickness too: thin enough to still be jeggings and cozy but thick enough to not let any cellulite show though.

Since it's still summer and warm out I paired these leggings with the Bogota Tank in Mint from Kiki La Rue because I think that mint/turquoise and white are just a perfect warm weather color combo.  I know summer is on the way out but this outfit gives me alllll the tropical vibes and makes me wish summer would hang around awhile longer :)

Oh, and of course the tank is flowy in alllll the right places to give you shape but it still has a relaxed feel to it.

For this outfit I paired it with a mint and white statement necklace from Charming Charlie and some white sandal pumps from DSW. Confession: I went out and bought these pumps for the sole purpose of wearing them with these jeggings.  Oh, and because I had a $10 DSW rewards certificate that was just about to expire and LORD KNOWS I couldn't let that go to waste.

Weird Fall 2011 Fashion Trends

While browsing some websites about the new fall fashion trends for 2011, I saw a lot of cute trends, but also a lot of things that made me go whaaaattt???  Here are these whaaaattttt???? moments, and my comments on them for your reading pleasure.

Leather Harnesses

How could this ever be practical?? Who wakes up and thinks, "Hm. I think today would be a great day to wear my LEATHER HARNESS" Let's think of the connotations here....bondage. straight jackets. maybe a base for an adult leash? None of these are sounding fashion forward to me...just creepy

Ok. I'll be honest. I do have some pairs of panties that I like a lot. I like them so much that if it was socially acceptable, I would like to show them off.  Ok. Here's the big thing though. IT'S NOT SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE TO WALK AROUND WITH YOUR UNDIES ON DISPLAY. Look at the picture on the left. See the guy smiling in the background? Yeah. He's probably thinking "hehehe I see your pantieeees." What's even worse is when they choose to not wear undergarments at all! I edited the other picture. We must think of the children.

Extreme Plunging Necklines

You know, I'm actually all for this trend. I just don't think we are taking it far enough. I think I'm going to start cutting the necklines off all my shirts down to my belly button. I have a pretty cute innie. I think it deserves to be seen. hah. Puhhlease note the sarcasm folks.

Fur Sleeves

Alright. As a resident female who has been blessed with slim to no arm hair, let me set something straight. Sure. My arms get cold sometimes. But not so cold that I feel like wearing a small animal on each arm!!! We slim-to-no-arm-hair females appreciate you reaching out to us, but we politefully decline your proposed solution to the fall chill.

What do you think? Are you a fan of the fur sleeves? Do you sport your leather harness on a regular basis? Or what are some other funky trends you've seen?

Mennonite to Chic: Raise that Hemline Baby

So I went to a big thrift store in my town for the first time the other week. It was a salvation army, and everything was surprisingly expensive!!! I was getting kind of discouraged. That is, until I hit the skirt section.

Mennonite Goldmine.
See, we have a lot of mennonites in our area. And they wear a lot of very long skirts. And I guess they are the one thing the salvation army does not mark up a ton!

Check out this one I found:

Yeah, pretty ugly as is. But it was only 99 cents!!

So, I bought it, chopped, pinned, ironed and sewed. I even used a sewing machiene! I feel so domesticated. And the hem looks semi-decent! Well, just don't stand tooooo close when you look at it :)

Shirt: Forever 21. Skirt: THRIFTED. Belt: gift. Shoes: Payless.

I don't know why my face turned out so fuzzy. Oh well. Look at my cute new skirt, not my face.

I think I could get used to this refashion thing! I have an ugly pink skirt in the pile up next!

Addicted to Polyvore

Have you guys ever checked out Polyvore? I recently discovered it thanks to one of my real life bffs Morgee and am now addicted to creating outfits on it.

For the record, Polyvore is a website that lets you design your own outfits using clothes and accessories from real stores. No, mom, it is not like polyester, and no I am not addicted to wearing stockings all the time now. But, good guess... haha :) Also, you can search for clothes/accessories by brand, price, type, and COLOR which is totally awesome for obsessive compulsive clothes matchers like me :)

So I recently created some outfits and thought I would share!

Outfit #1: Sweet Peach

Easter Peach Colors

I totally want this dress. And will most likely buy it because it's only 20 bucks!!! I also loveeee those shoes, but they are 40. boo. I wish I owned all of these things, I'd wear them for Easter.

Outfit #2: Mocha Gold Espresso
Beige Button Dress

I'm loving the gold/peach colors lately.  Does this look too monotone?

Outfit #3: Polka Dot Passion

Polka Dot and Red
I'm not really a red kinda gal, I think the color looks funny on me. But maybe red accessories would be a better route to go??

Outfit #4: Edgy Floral
Pink and Purple Floral Dress

I saw this dress actually in Charolotte Russe and thought to myself, I could see myself getting engaged in this dress. Hahahah. Is that weird??  I think you could dress it down too with just some sandals, hair down, etc.

If you guys couldn't tell, I have a thing for dresses... I'm also really lame when it comes to naming my outfit creations.

I think I will be visiting a mall over Easter break. shhhh. don't tell boyfriend. or my mother. for some reason they think that the 20+ dresses I currently own is enough. ;)

Also! I've got a giveaway going on currently over at Young Nester for this pretty necklace in my etsy shop:

You can pick your color too! Just cause I'm that nice. Head on over and enter.

The Ma Nouvelle Mode giveaway is still going strong too! Enter that while you're at it

You don't cuddle with your new clothes too?

So, today I took a trip to the outlets near my college to do some SHOPPING

Am I the only one who just likes to squeeze all my new great friends after a shopping trip? Spend a little quality time bonding with my new babes..... Ok. Maybe this is weird. I was just excited.

And got a little shopping high and wanted to share my purchases with someone.

Can I say I LURVEEE Old Navy 50% of clearance deals? I got four of those sweaters for under $20 total.

And I'm totally wearing that blue tank top (5 bucks on sale from American Eagle hollaaaa) and fuchsia sweater for my hot date with boyfriend in two weeks.

And speaking of boyfriend...
Check out how hot we both look skyping (long distance sucks) in our huge headphones? I'm kinda small but I promise I look just as ridiculous.

Favorite quote from our convo (talking about engagement rings. EEEEHHH! ):

Me: But how will you know how to find a pretty one if I don't help?
Boyfriend: Do I not know what pretty is? I found you didn't I?
