Make Envelopes Out of Magazine Pages!

This past week I received this lovely surprise in my mailbox at college:

A birthday card from my good friend Brittany! (loyal reader of my blog by the way...shout out to ya girl!!)

What really caught my eye was the beautiful envelope it was in. So I texted her and found out she made it from a magazine. Such a smart idea!

I had to try it out myself. The only magazines I had lying around were bridal magazines....but I was able to find this pretty picture:

I traced out a basic envelope shape by hand on the back

Trimmed away all the excess

And then I folded all the parts down and used a little Mod Podge to keep it together.

And that't all there is to it!

Sorry for the crappy pictures, but the concept is pretty simple! So next time you are in a bind to make a pretty card for someone, try grabbing a magazine and see what you could make!

I'll be sharing this with all the link parties in my header including Today's Creative BlogSerenity Now, and Christina's Adventures

  4. i love making envelopes out of magazines. Just be careful that they don't go over the normal dimensions of the postal service card sizes, or else they'll charge you for a small parcel/package instead of a letter. it's a bit more costly for that stamp then! :-)

  9. sure to make one with the help of magazines. Just be careful that they don't go over the normal dimensions of the postal service card sizes, or else they'll charge you for a small parcel/package instead of a letter.

  20. Well this would certainly be something someone would enjoy getting in the mail as much as what is inside the envelope! Great tutorial!

  21. While my daughter was pregnant I had visited the Dr. with her on one occasion. In the waiting room were FREE baby magazines and catalogs. So...I helped myself, naturally.

We made her shower invitations on the computer and used pages from the magazines and catalogs to send them.
We also requested them back as part of a game for the party goers...
She got most of them back and used them to scrap book...it was cool, because she got to see who all came to the shower and it made the scrap/babybook more special! (not to mention colorful and baby themed)

    Yours turned out great!
