Groomsmen Attire

So now that I have my wedding dress and we've got the bridesmaids dresses, I've decided I should probably get on top of the groom and groomsmen attire! When I went home for fall break we found the suits for the guys at K&G. We decided to vouch for suits rather than tuxes and make the guys just pay a littttle more than they would for a tux rental, but then they get to keep the suit and not just return the tux!

The wedding colors are silver, eggplant, and hot pink, so we decided to go with a dark gray suit.

Marc Anthony Repp-Striped Tie, $40

Croft and Barrow Textured-Plaid Tie, $19

Now I'm just left with trying to figure out the other details! I know that fiancé will NOT wear a purple or pink shirt, and I'm ok with that! So I'm thinking just a white dress shirt with some kind of tie. I'm leaning towards a silver tie....but I'm not exactly sure what kind. I like just a plain, satin silver tie (maybe not QUITE as bright as the one in the picture above) but my biggest issue is I kind of want fiancé to look a littttle different than all the other guys. Maybe a stripped and a solid? The groomsmen wears one and fiancé wears the other?

What are your thoughts? Do you like the whole ensemble? I'd appreciate some feedback :)

  1. Dark gray suits are a great idea! I would look for eggplant color ties for your groomsmen and go with the silver tie for your groom. Makes him stand out a little more and 'match' you. Just my thoughts. ;)

  2. Have Shawn wear a silver tie and the groomsmen wear the eggplant color. It wont' be girly looking on them and it'll be a good distinguish-er! :)

  5. I love everything! Yes, the groom needs to be different from his groomsmen. I like the solid silver for your hunny and the tiny stripe or diamond for the groomsmen.
By the way I watched a little of Project Accessory tonight!! I'm in love!! I can totally see you doing that!! :)

  6. Or maybe he could do something like a white or black tie, to be completely different. That's what we did, guys in grey tie, hubby in white tie, and my dad in a black tie. Just an idea!

  7. Love the ensemble. Very crisp - almost vintage-inspired.

Do guys in the States wear Tie pins? To add a wee touch of pink, get a nice pink stone e.g. CZ or pink topaz tie pin to secure the tie so it doesn't go flapping about :) then you get the tiniest touch of pink on their ensemble :)
