What I Wore Wednesday

So it's been foreverrrr since I did a What I Wore Wednesday. So here's a hodge podge of outfits since the semester started.

Outfit #1
Dress: Forever 21. Belt: Gift. Necklace: I made. Shoes: Payless

 Outfit #2
Top & Belt: Rue 21. Jeans: Old Navy. Shoes: France

I really want to get a pair of brownish tan boots and wear it with this shirt to match that belt. Even though Project Runway keeps telling me being matchy matchy is SO out. I just can't help my love of matching

Side note: I totally had to hot glue these flats together because they had big holes in the toes. At least being crafty has some other benefits :)

Outfit #3
Dress: Aeire. Sweater: Old Navy. Shoes: J-Crew

Outfit #4
Dress: Ross. Cami: Old Navy. Shoes: American Eagle. Necklace: American Eagle

Outfit #5
Shirt: Forever 21. Scarf: London. Jeans: Old Navy. Shoes: Payless.

Outfit #6
Dress: Delias. Sweater: Old Navy. Belt: Charolette Rousse. Shoes: Payless.

This was my birthday outfit!!! Which I already showed on my blog, but I liked it so much here it is again :)

So that's what I got. It's getting cooler out here in Western PA, so soon I'm going to have to start to rework my clothes for fall!

Make Envelopes Out of Magazine Pages!

This past week I received this lovely surprise in my mailbox at college:

A birthday card from my good friend Brittany! (loyal reader of my blog by the way...shout out to ya girl!!)

What really caught my eye was the beautiful envelope it was in. So I texted her and found out she made it from a magazine. Such a smart idea!

I had to try it out myself. The only magazines I had lying around were bridal magazines....but I was able to find this pretty picture:

I traced out a basic envelope shape by hand on the back

Trimmed away all the excess

And then I folded all the parts down and used a little Mod Podge to keep it together.

And that't all there is to it!

Sorry for the crappy pictures, but the concept is pretty simple! So next time you are in a bind to make a pretty card for someone, try grabbing a magazine and see what you could make!

I'll be sharing this with all the link parties in my header including Today's Creative BlogSerenity Now, and Christina's Adventures

Looking Sharp with Express Suits

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Express for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

So, being in my last semester of college means that very very shortly I'm going to have to go job hunting. Eck! I have to get a big girl job! Interviews can be a very intimidating process for sure. I always feel a little bit more confident in myself and my skills though when I'm looking very sharp, so before I start interviewing I'm going to have to get myself a suit!

I'll have to check out Express when I go out shopping, because they have a great variety of professional, but also very stylish women's suits. Look how great they look:

EXPRESS

EXPRESS

EXPRESS

I like that last one best, I love the gray color. I also love how the suits can go from work to play so easily.  Ditch the blazer and wear a cute blouse with a chunky necklace for a whole different look for night!

Which one do you like? Do you ever wear suits, and to where? For a chance to win a $500 suiting makeover from Express, check out the Express sweepstakes

Thank you!

Thank you all so much for all the birthday wishes yesterday! I had a lovely day :)

Here was my birthday outfit!!

I was so proud of my fashioning skills with this outfit, because it actually is a dress. I wore a short sweater over it and belted it though and got a totally new look!

I also just hit 800 followers yesterday, so what a lovely blogging birthday present :) I would also like to thank Erin for her present of these two adorable squirrels, (I have a things for squirrels, I just think they are the cutest things) and give props to my two friends from home who sent me the SAME EXACT CARD for my birthday. They didn't even plan it or anything. I guess I just really remind them of a cute little fluffy dog with fashion glasses on haha.

Hope you are all having good weeks! It's...kind of almost the weekend?? My fiancé is coming to visit me at school this weekend! He'll be here late tomorrow afternoon. So excited to see him!

Martini Glass Wire Earrings

Tomorrow, Wednesday the 21st of September, is my 21st birthday!!!! Yay!!! I started school early as a kindergardener so I've always been younger than my friends. I'm looking forward to finallyyyy being 21.  So, in celebration my tutorial for this week are these cute martini glass earrings!

And to share the birthday happiness, check back tomorrow, on my actual birthday, for a giveaway for these earrings! Birthday cheer all around :)

Now, here's how to make a pair of your own!

Supplies:
-Wire (I used 20 gauge)
-Earring Hooks
-Green and red beads
-Needle Nose Pliers
-Round Nose Pliers
-Wire Cutters
-Super Glue

Steps:

Step 1: Measure out two peices of wire about 6 inches and cut with the wire cutter

Step 2: Form the base of the glass by making an inside out spiral. So were are making a spiral....starting from the outside going in. Use the largest part of your round nose pliers to start the spiral, and you can probably just do the rest by hand with a little help from needle nose pliers to keep it straight along the way.

Bend the wire to a 90 degree angle coming out of the spiral. This will be one part of the stem of the glass.

Step 3: Form one side of the cup of the glass by bending the wire with needle nose pliers to make a 45 degree angle.

Step 4: Form the brim of the cup by bending the wire back over to the right with needle nose pliers.

Step 5: Add a small red bead and larger green bead onto the brim. It's supposed to look like an olive! We'll secure the beads later. For now we're going to make a loop to connect the glass to an earring hook. Grasp the right side of the brim with round nose pliers.

Bend the wire around the pliers to form a loop, and then straighten the wire out.

Step 6: Form the right side of the stem by bending the wire from the cup the same distance as the one on the left.

Step 7: Snip off the excess wire with wire cutters and straighten out the stem. Mine's not perfect, but it works :)

Step 8: Secure the beads with super glue so they stay together.

Step 9: Attach earring hooks to the loop and you're done!

Tada! Don't forget to check back for the GIVEAWAY TOMORROW!
