Duck Tape® For the Holidays!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Duck Brand® for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Ok ok, let's face it. We all love Duck Tape®. Men and women alike! There are so many manly, industrious uses for Duck Tape®, and also so many great DIY uses for us crafty ladies as well :)

Which is why I'm super excited to share about the new holiday line of Duck Tape® by the Duck® Brand! Duck Tape® has put out a new limitied edition holiday line with three SUPER adorable new prints: snowmen, gingerbread men, and polka dots!

I'm partial to the polka dots - I would use them all year round - but even so these prints would be a great edition to our christmas crafting stash. I'm picturing: cardboard gingerbread houses covered with the polka dot print (for those of us who can't stand sticky icing houses constantly falling apart haha), holiday gift tags made with the snowmen print (use the Duck Tape® to frame a boring paper tag) , and possibly a gingerbread man covered composition book to use for Christmas cookie recipies???

I also think these fun prints would be great for gifts that you have to ship to family or friends far away - why use dull and boring packaging tape when you can use the festive duct tape!! For family and friends close by though, even throwing a roll in the stocking of a crafty friend would be very appreciated I'm sure :)

I'm sure you've seen tons of other cool projects for Duck Tape® out in blog land: but to see more make sure you become a fan of Duck Tape® on Facebook to stay up-to-date with new prints and fun new projects featuring Duck Tape®!

Christmas Stocking Tutorial with Wooden Initials

I've got a great Christmas tutorial to share with you all today!

I made mine and hubby's very first stockings together! And let me tell you. I love um so much we're using them until we're 80. NO JOKE.

I wanted a pretty neutral stocking, but still wanted it to be cute. I picked a linen with a gold detail and a matching base fabric for the accent top and bow. The little bow and the wooden initials are what make them so adorable I think!!

Now, I can do some basic sewing, but wrapping my head around a stocking just was not quite working for me.  So, it was a trip to mom's house for some guidance :)

So here's what we did. I didn't really write down measurements along the way because they are pretty basic to figure out.  If anyone is really desparate for the info let me know I'll try to backstep and measure :)

Be warned: picture heavy tutorial ahead!

What I Wore: Striped Dress

I love this pretty new dress I got from Old Navy!
Dress: Old Navy. Tights: Silkies. Booties: Payless. Necklace: NJ Boutique

Normally horizontal stripes are a no-no for curvy gals, but I think these actually flatter me more. I almost look skinny!! haha

And you can tell in these pics, we had our first real snow this week!!! Everything is so pretty outside :)

This necklace was one I found that I thought "I could totally make this" but, it's only 6 bucks so I'll just buy it. Sometimes the DIY is not all the way worth it :)

Someone more fashion adventurous maybe would have paired this with a color-pop necklace or belt or something...but for work I just kept it simple and classy. Maybe next time I'll experiment a little more.

Felt Reindeer Ornament

I've got another cute little felt ornament to show you all..

Felt Reindeer Ornament

Can't wait to put this guy on my tree with my felt gingerbread man ornament! Since this is hubby's and my first Christmas together we are a little short on ornaments. I've been trying to get my rear in gear to craft some!!

First thing I did was sketch out a little reindeer head shape and cut it out with cardboard to use as a guide for two heads cut out in brown felt

Can't forget the reindeer antlers! I cut them out with black felt

I cut out a little red nose out of felt and stitched it on with embroidery floss. A couple more stitches gave me a smile, and I also stitched two black beads on for eyes!

After all the face is made, I put the other brown piece of felt behind and stuck in the antlers and used a blanket stitch to close him up, stuffing some fluff in during the process!

Here he is all stuffed and fluffed:

Last step needed to make this little guy an ornament was to just stitch a loop on the top out of the embroidery floss! All set to be hung on my tree!

Crafting with felt is one of my favorite crafts. 10 years from now my tree will probably be covered in little felt ornaments haha! They are just so cute and easy to make! Enjoy making yourself a little reindeer if you give it a whirl!

I'll be linking up to these parties:

What I Wore

Day before a holiday so today I get to be a little more casual :)

Black Jeans: Old Navy. Boots: Payless. Top: Loft. Earrings: My DIY

Today I'm feeling like a giddy little kid. We're having Thanksgiving dinner with friends tonight and then of course with family tomorrow. I am just so loving the holiday season this year! Puts me in a super good mood. Except for last night when I was totally PMSing and cried because I couldn't find a jelly roll pan to make pumpkin roll with. oh boy. I ended up finding one though! yay!

Such pretty earrings!! I think it's time to revive my Jewelry Lessons series to go over some of the techniques I used to make them!

I hope everyone has a fabulous Thanksgiving!!! See you on the flip side for more CHRISTMAS TUTORIALS!! :)

Consumer Crafts Black Friday Sale!!!

I've got some great news about a BIG SALE!

http://theblueprintsocial.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Consumer-Crafts-promotional-image.jpg

Consumer Crafts is having a HUGE sale!

For black Friday they are having great Doorbusters that continue through the weekend (while supplies last!!) and Cyber Monday will be the last day for Doorbuster prices PLUS the entire site is 30% off and will have FREE SHIPPING! (US customers can order online, but customers outside of the US need to call in their orders)

After browsing around I found a ton of great craft supplies I would love to have :) I think I will send them to the hubby for some stocking stuffer ideas!!! Here's a selection of what I love:

Don't shoot me crafters...but I've never actually bought bakers twine yet!! I really want to add some to my craft stash :) I love the color of this purple twine and the fact that it's on a cute wooden spool also has me hooked :)

Pink Argyle Plaid Print Washi Tape
One craft trend that I DEFINITELY have partaken in, however, is Washi Tape!! I'd love to add this cute argyle print to my collection :)

12.4 inch, 4 Tier Round Earring Spinner Display Stand in Black Finished Metal
I'm in the middle to trying to figure out a better way to organize all my jewelry, and this cute little stand is very affordable and would be a great way to get some of my earrings put away properly!

I love this pale blue color! I would love to make a chunky necklace out of these pretty beads!

Man, online window shopping is more fun than doing it in person - you don't even have to get off your bum :) Hope you have some fun doing some window shopping, and make sure you save any ideas you like to purchase Monday during the sale!!!
