My school has GREAT outlets like 10 minutes away from campus. I got this tube top from Guess on clearance for under 10 bucks:
However, having slightly larger than average ta-tas, I'm not a huge fan of tube tops. Luckily though this top came with a matching tie that I decided I could turn into straps!
I know what you are thinking. Adding straps to a strapless shirt? VERY ORIGINAL. HOW EXCITING. Well, all of these may be true but I was so proud of myself! This engaged gal has yet to be domesticized fully yet (i just made that word up I think) and I don't really sew. SO. this was a big deal for me.
I cut, measured, and sewed on some straps during three episodes of the office.
Note to self: learn to sew, AND sew faster.
And then yay straps! Now I don't need to worry about any shirt slipage/ta-ta viewage.
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE.
I had a little bit of strap left over, and the fabric was just TOO cute to waste. So I made a headband!
Cut three different sizes of the ribbon:
Hot glue the ends of the longest piece together
Hot glue it down onto itself,
Do the same with the second to largest piece and then hot glue it on top of the larger one.
Hot glue the shortest piece on top of the two loops,
Hot glue some elastic for the headband on the backside,
Then trim the ends of the ribbon, wrap it around the elastic and hot glue down.
Tada! Cute little bow!
However, since I'm not five I probably shouldn't wear them together. That's a lot of purple polka dots...
But they will both be cute by themselves! :D
I'm linking this up to all the projects in my header as well as Today's Creative Blog
The bow headband is adorable! I love it. And knowing me, if I tried to add straps to something, I'd screw it up in an unreversable manor. You did a great job :)
