DIY Felt Gingerbread Ornament

ONLY A WEEK UNTIL I CAN PUT CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS UP!!!!

I may be a little excited.

Since this will be my first Christmas in my own home, it's time for me to start building my Christmas ornament collection! I have some from growing up but half of them are barbies. Literally. I got a barbie ornament for like ten years in a row when I was a kid. Cool back then...but I really don't want my own tree to be barbie dominated this year :)

This ADORABLE little gingerbread man was my first handmade addition!

DIY Felt Gingerbread Man Ornament

I started by cutting out a gingerbread form out of cardboard. I attempted to freehand it...but that failed miserably so I just googled gingerbread man and traced around the shape!! I then used the form to cut out two gingerbread man shapes with brown felt.

I cut out some white rick rac for the arms and legs and hot glued it on

Using black embroidery floss I stitched on two buttons, two black beads for eyes, and a couple stitches for a smile!

He still looked a little bare though....so I dressed him up with a little red felt bow tie that I just hot glued on. Much better! Now he is "clothed" :)

Last step was to stitch him up! I used a blanket stitch and added in some fluff along the way. I added a long loop of floss at the top to be able to hang him from the tree after he was all stitched.

All stitched and fluffed up!!!

Well hello there handsome. You are going to look mighty fine on my Christmas tree this year!! Sorry sorry. I'm just a little taken with the cute factor :)

I'll be linking up to these parties:
