First off, if you want background check out THIS post first. It explains my frustration with this dang piece of furniture.
I wanted a piece of furniture to be able to put the mail on and store some stuff in my kitchen. I found this piece at the thrift store and got it for $90 bucks. Pretty expensive I'd say for what it is at a thrift store...but I had been looking for something for awhile so I just went ahead and got it.
I took it back to my dad's workshop
And spent a LOT of time trying to get all the old ugly paint off.
These doors? Yeah, a big pain in my batoochie. I had intended to keep them so I spent a lot of time stripping them and trying to repaint them....and then the paint didn't go on nice so I just decided to nick them.
Looking a little better now! Got a nice coat of red paint (don't look too close on the inside I ran out of paint)
Here it is all put together in the kitchen. I decided to just leave the doors off and bottom open and got baskets to put in the inside.
To tell you the truth.....I still don't really like it. BAH. I think it's still a little...country? for my taste? With the decorative trim on the top. And the first coat of paint I put on I didn't have a roller so I really messed it up from the beginning, so it still doesn't look super finished.
I do have a spot for my mail now...and some cute votives I covered in Washi Tape....but I don't know how long I will keep it around. I kind of feel obligated to now that I spend that much time and money on it.
True story:
Walking through target the other week I saw this gorgeous red cabinet for only $150
I may or may not have gone up to it on the shelf, shaken it back and forth, and yelled "WHERE WERE YOU 2 MONTHS AGO!!!!"
Alas. Thoughts? Is it as bad as I think it is? I feel like I'm so invested in it now I can't even tell.
