Valentines Day Heart and Arrow Wreath

I've never decorated at all for Valentine's day...so now that I have my own home it's fun to decorate for each holiday :)

This wreath was spurred by a Styrofoam heart form that I got at a yard sale in the summer for 50 cents! They had a couple for sale...I'm kicking myself now that I only grabbed one!

Supplies needed are a heart form, ribbon, a wooden dowel, and (not pictured) hot glue, felt, and craft paint. I got the dowel for less than a dollar at AC Moore. Score!

First thing I did was wrap my heart in a satin red ribbon, hot gluing to secure

Don't mind my messy craft desk in the background...

Next I painted the wooden dowel with some craft paint and then added on some felt accessories. I glued on a red rectangle of felt on the bottom and snipped it to a fringe like so:

And for the tip of the arrow I snipped some black felt out in a triangle and glued it on.

To secure the arrow to the heart I just hot glued it to either side of the heart form on the back.

Voila! Super easy and super cheap for me too. The craft paint and felt I had on hand, so really I spent about $5 dollars for this wreath. Score.

And it is only driving me slightly crazy that the red wreath and burgundy of my front door is clashing MAJOR. Note to self: make next years wreath PINK. I have clashing issues....

Oh well. Valentines Day you are welcome at my house even if you clash with all my decor!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend and you are all starting off this new week with a smile :) Hubby and I had such a nice weekend. I really should have taken more pictures. We see each other everyday, but there's something about going out and just REALLY spending time with each other and not just sitting side by side on the couch watching TV :)

Saturday night we walked around some shops. Bought some more toys for our crazy pup and then went out to dinner. I love that I have a husband who agrees to split his meal with me in return for half of mine when I can't decide what I want :)

Sunday we drove up into the county and did some wine tasting. The vineyard was up on a mountain and the views were GORGEOUS. This was probably an hour and 15 min. from where we live, and it has not snowed for weeks but up on the mountain its still there in spots! I also love that I have a husband who gives me his coat when I forget mine and we go up on a mountain where it's 15 degrees colder than at home!!!

Such a refreshing weekend to recharge. Now back to work we go...

DIY Valentines Day Conversation Hearts

This is the perfect Valentines Day craft: it's super cheap, easy to do, and turns out adorable!

I love the little conversation hearts that come out around Valentines Day. They are so cute! I found a way to make my own fake hearts to display for the holiday (and I won't have to worry about anyone eating them!!!)

I found these plain wooden hearts at AC Moore for only 79 cents each. Score! I bought three.

The rest of the supplies I had at home: paint, paint brush, and a stencil. I used Martha Stewart high gloss craft paint in three Valentines Day colors.

First thing I did was paint the hearts a base color

Note: This is NOT a good craft to do with three year olds! I did this while baby-sitting my neice and after leaving her unattended for literally 5 minutes there was red paint EVERYWHERE. That's why my purple heart is a little wonky, she clumped on tons of paint and it dried before I noticed!!

After the paint is dry I laid out my letter stencils. I used these awesome Martha Stewart stencils that are sticky on the back but you can reuse them over and over again!
