eShakti - Cute Custom Sized Clothing!

Have you ever been to eShakti? They are an online clothing company with TONS of cute dresses and separates. The really neat thing about the company is that for starting at only $7.50 you can get the clothes custom made to your exact measurements. You can't beat that!

I was recently able to review one of their products. Check out my awesome new coat!!

I've had this coat for only about a week now and I love it! I ALWAYS have problems finding pea-coats that fit properly.  They never button across my chest or are too tight across my shoulders, something is wrong. The one I had before this one was SO restricting.

So when I slipped this coat on it was SO refreshing to have something that fit me perfectly - because it was tailored just for me!

I love the cute little off-centered buttons on this coat and the flirty collar.

I also really like the longer length - keeps me nice and warm! It also works great to wearing over my work clothes, I feel very professional and put together when I wear it.

This exact coat I do not believe is in stock anymore, but there is a similar one on sale:

Besides customizing the size, on most of the clothes you can also customize the styling. You can choose the type of neckline you want, length of skirts or coats, sleeve lengths, sleeve styles, SO many options to get something that you really will like.

Check out all the cute clothes eShakti has to offer here. If you find something you like, register to get $20 off your first order AND free customization on your first order

How to Get 1000 Followers in One Year

Now before I dive into this post I have to preface it. I am not a blogging expert, nor do I believe there is a sure formula to follow for how to get 1000 followers in a  year. However, if you read this post I recently had my one year blog anniversary and hit the 1000 followers bench mark. Whooo! I've had some people ask for my "secrets" so I figured I'd share what I have learned here.

1. Get a good blog design
When I started my blog, I had NO idea of how it would be received. I did know, however, that I had a lot of confidence in myself to be able to work hard at it and knew it was something I really wanted to put effort into. Thus, before I even launched my blog I payed to get a custom blog design done. Before I posted one tutorial - before I had one follower!! I forget the exact amount but think it was between 60-75 dollars. Now, I know us crafters are all about DIY and doing things cheaply.  But especially when I started out, I had NO CLUE how to design a blog. And even now after I've learned a lot more about HTML and such, I still have no regrets paying someone that much. Here's the thing about your blog design- before anyone ever reads a WORD you write or even sees a picture of your awesome project, they are going to see you blog header at the top of your page and automatically form an opinion about your blog.  My biggest suggestion for growing your blog is to get a design that reflects you and the idea behind your blog (and that isn't too over-the-top - I actually do not follow some blogs because I think their blog design is too garish. Oy vay my eyes!)

2. Link up to a lot of parties
If you see on the bottom of any of my tutorials I post, I link up to a LOT of parties. This is the easiest way to get your projects out there in bloggy world, where they can be seen by the party host to potentially feature and by all those visiting the blog who might like the picture and click through to your blog.

3. Comment it up!
I've gotten bad at this recently....but I was really good at it when I started out. Don't link and run when you go to link parties, scroll through, find a project you like, and take the time to leave a nice comment! Chances are the blog owner will want to see who left the comment and click over to your blog. If they like your blog they just might start following you or at least comment back!

4. Start your own link party
This may not be for everyone, but I have LOVED hosting my weekly Your Whims Wednesday party. It takes time and money, but I have loved being able to see the projects my readers have been working on and being able to feature them on my blog. It is also an easy way to get followers - IF you go about it the right way.  When I started up my link party I spent a lot of time going through other big link parties, looking for projects I liked, and then clicking over to the blog and leaving a MEANINGFUL comment and inviting the blogger to come link up to my party.  Here's the key though: I only invite projects I actually do really like, and I always leave a meaningful comment before the party invite.  I HATE when people comment on my projects and say "This is cute come link to my party at XYZ blog." Spamming much?? Take the time to leave a meaningful comment and you may be rewarded with a link up and even a new follower.

5. Submit your projects.
Submit your projects to blogs and websites that feature blog projects. If you get featured on them you will see  a huge influx in traffic and also followers! Here are some to get started with: UCreate, Totally Tutorials, Tip Junkie, All Free Sewing, All Free Beaded Jewelry

6. Be real
I know the main reason we follow other blogs is to get inspiration, but I personally LOVE when bloggers post about other stuff besides just crafts. Post about your life too! Make the reading experience a little more personal for your readers. I love finding out more about the blogger behind the computer screen. We are all more than crafters, give me a peak at who that is!

7. Be nice and enjoy the experience.
Follow the guidelines to link parties. Don't leave mean comments. Make blog friends. Respond to comments and questions. Help promote other bloggers. Understand other bloggers have lives outside of the blog world and you do too. Don't let blogging consume you, don't feel the need to post "I'M STILL HERE!!" after you haven't posted for two days. Let your blog show your passion for your craft. Don't create a super strict posting schedule and get upset when you can't keep it up. Blog when YOU want, and blog because YOU want to. And most of all, have fun :)

Phew, ok, that is all the wisdom I have at the moment. Comment or email me if you have any questions. Once again I'm not an "expert" - but then again who really is??

Happy blogging :)

GlassesUSA

This is a sponsored post. All opinions are 100% mine.

So, you may not know this about me because I never wear them during the day or in any pictures....

But i'm a glasses gal. Well, normally I'm a contacts girl, but recently I over-wore my contacts and was put on contact probation for two weeks by my eye doctor (gasp!). It was a big change for me at first because I normally only wear my glasses at night and tend to think I look a littttle prettier sans the frames. But, during this two week contact hiatus I've learned to accept my face with glasses and realize it's probably a good idea to give my eye balls some breathing time a few times a week. The continual comments from hubby-to-be about how cute I look in glasses didn't hurt either :)

So, why so much talk about glasses? Well I was recently contacted by GlassesUSA.com to check out their online site, and I'm so glad I was!

We bought these glasses about a year ago from a local store. I don't remember the exact price but I know it wasn't cheap! GlassesUSA offers prescription eyeglasses for as low as low as $38, and yes that IS including prescription lenses. That's unheard of to me!!

And the eyeglasses they stock are not ugly or cheap looking at all, they actually have a really large variety in stock as well!

These glasses are the favorite ones I found - only for 59 bucks! What do you think: could I pull off a pink tortoise shell? Too busy? Or just girly and cute enough :)

Besides high quality glasses frames and lenses, GlassesUSA also offers a 100% lowest price guarantee and a 100% satisfaction guarantee along with a generous refer-a-friend program.

So, if you are in the market for some new frames and don't want to overpay like I did, check out GlassesUSA. I even have some discount codes for you! Check um out:

Take 20% off your entire order of $80 more more and get free US shipping with code FS20

Chicken Farm Embroidery

Remember that time everyone posted their handmade Christmas presents the week after Christmas?

Well.....I didn't. So, a month later, I will now show you the only handmade Christmas present I made this year.

I give you....my chicken farm embroidery.

I learned how to embroider this past semester while I was still out at school, and this was my biggest project! This is the culmination of many nights at embroidery club (yes, my friends made an embroidery club. We're cool like that...) and many TV show watching and embroidering sessions.

I made this farm scene for my soon to be in-laws. They live in an old country style home and have about 60 chickens at their house that they care for and then sell their eggs by their barn to local folks. They've coined their little chicken business as Sunny Side Up Farm.

Here's a cute little rooster and a hen (in hindsight...the rooster should have been bigger but I started it too low haha)

And another little hen eating some seed (I had to call fiancé and ask him if his chickens had those red things on their heads or if it was just roosters lol)

And a barn with some hay!

It's not perfect, but I was pretty proud of myself.  My in-laws loved it too. It was personalized to them and I think they appreciated that I took the time to make it for them! It's currently displayed on their mantle.

Not the kind of girlish whims project you would expect from me, eh? Let's just say... I'm content just embroidering chickens and never owning any of my own! Those little feathery things sure do smell!! :)

StyledOn Review

This is a sponsored review. All opinions are 100% mine.

So, I know most of my readers are crafty bloggers like me, but I'm sure a good amount of you are also addicted to fashion blogs too. So, when I got a chance to review StyledOn, an awesome online fashion community, I jumped at the chance.

To access the site you first have to create an account. After you do so you have access to a site full of fashion inspiration!!!! Users post pictures of outfits they wear, fashion round ups, products they like, etc. When you scroll through your dashboard you "tap" on things you like, and then the site gets to know your style and will be able to show you brands and such that you might like.  Pretty cool!

Here are some of the things I've found that I liked:

So loving this outfit! The girl has a blog called Teatime Thoughts. StyledOn has totally shown me some new blogs to follow!

StyledOn also does recreations of some of the cute outfits posted on the site so you can find similar pieces! I love those maroon pants!!

Of course there are lots of fun rounds ups like this neon one.

And you can also search products and discover new clothing brands! This sparkly blazer totally caught my eye!

So if you are in a fashion rut and need some inspiration, be sure to check out the StyledOn Fashion Community!

Even More Wedding Plans!

Well my wedding is in ONE MONTH and TWO DAYS, so I'd say it's time for another planning update post. Here are some of the things I have been working on:

I made my earrings the same way I did for the bridesmaid's earrings, wire-wrapped and with crystals. I picked bigger crystals though so I could have some more bling bling on my ears. They are very sparkly and pretty sizable too- I'm excited to try them on with my dress! (It's being altered at the moment).

I also went flower girl dress shopping with my niece last week! And let me tell you - JCPenney's has done me well for this wedding! We got the bridesmaid dresses there for $65, and that's also where we found the flower girl dress for $40! It was SO fun shopping for dresses, my niece is almost three and so dang cute and smart, she had such fun trying on all the pretty dresses! Here is the one we picked:
Oh the cuteness. I can't stand it.

I also am making the flower petals that she will throw. I used leftover fabric from my pew decor flowers, cut them into flower petal shapes and then just burned the edges with a candle. I need to make some in purple still but here are the pink ones - I think they look pretty realistic!!

My next project is to make a guest book. I found this idea on Etsy:
Wedding Guest Book Alternative - Personalized 3D Wedding Hearts - MEDIUM guest book (includes frame, instruction card and two pens)
Isn't that an adorable idea?? I can make the hearts no problem - although my biggest problem I think will be finding a frame! All the frames at Target and Walmart are rectangular, not square like I would like. Anyone know where so get affordable square frames? I'll have to do a little research.

Whew! Now some of the last few details I am stressing about are how to do the escort cards, table numbers, and how to package my hot chocolate and heart marshmallow favors. The wedding is a month from Wednesday - it's getting down to the wire!!! :)
