Fashion to Figure Review

I was recently given the opportunity to review an item from Fashion to Figure, an online and retail store front that brings fashion to those of us size 12+!!

Fashion to Figure

Now, I'm a curvy girl, and I can fit in clothes that most regular store carry, but sometimes there are problems.  Things won't button across my chest, won't quite make it over my hips, and sometimes things leave a littttle too much booty on display!!

It was nice to be able to not have to worry about those things when I picked out a dress online, because I knew Fashion to Figure would think of those things!!

I picked out the All that Glitters Stretch Dress and wore it this past Friday to work and had planned to wear it to the Melting Pot with hubby for a date night after work :)

I thought a full body of sparkly cheeta print might be a littttle bit much for work, so I actually put a skirt and belt over the dress to break up the pattern a little.

Now it just looks like a sparkly cheeta top! Much more appropriate for work.

But after work....I just left the dress on and put on some higher heels and I was ready for a night out!!

Woot woot! My buns are covered but I still think I looked gooood :)  The pattern was very flattering, helped hide some problem areas!! My only complaint about this dress is that I did end up with a lot of loose sparkles on my skin and such through out the day, but I guess that's inevitable.

In the end hubby and I were too hot and tired from work to go out to the melting pot, so we opted for dominos and a movie night in :) But, next time I have a girls night or bachelorette party to attend, I know what I'll be wearing!!!

I'm linking up to The Pleated Poppy and Momma Go Round

I was able to receive any item under $30 from Fashion to Figure in exchange for a review.  All opinions are 100% mine. My dress was over $30 anyway so I still opted to pay some money because I really liked it :)

What I Wore Wednesday

Wednesday, May 23, 2012 | | 8 comments
Two outfits to share this week!

This first dress, I bought last summer and could never figure out how to style it.  Finally, while flipping through my closet I remember this brown shrug I got this fall and finally thought I could make it work!

Dress: Heavenly Couture. Sweater: Old Navy.  Belt: Rue 21. Shoes: J. Crew.  Necklace: Your Girlish Whims

One of the new necklace designs in my etsy shop. I am loving this style of necklace right now!!

Here's what I'm sporting today:
Dress: Loft. Shoes: Payless. Necklace: Handmade.

Got this dress while out at my college for graduation - there are SUCH great outlets there! I think this dress was like $15 on clearance!

I love this necklace too! Nice and chunky and helps dress up any outfit.  I did a tutorial for it too which can be seen here.

Anyway else do a WIWW post this week? Leave me a link in the comments and I'll check it out :)

Have a Cheap Wedding: Best Ways to Save

So it's coming up on three months since my big wedding day....and I thought I would do one last post talking about some of the areas I saved the most money in! Cheap weddings are possible: I believe it's all about picking and choosing where you want to spend the money most.

1. Have an off season wedding.  This is the BIGGEST tip I can give you.  I know, I know. We all want out wedding on that Saturday in the middle of June on a nice, summer, sunny day. Well, because everyone wants a wedding then all the vendors will be more expensive then as well! I got a great deal on my reception vendor and photographer because my wedding was at the end of February and these places were not normally booked then.

2. DIY what you can and what you feel comfortable with. You can see all the Wedding DIY  I did for my big day.  Doing DIY for decor, flowers, favors, etc. helped me save SO much cash.

3. Cut back on flowers.  That bill adds up fast.  Analyze where you really need flowers, and only use them there. We nixed boutonnieres, corsages, and using real flowers for decor. The flowers we needed for the bouquets we got in bulk from Costco.

4. Use the people you know.  My uncle DJed my wedding for free for me, my old harp teacher played during my ceremony for free, and my old roommate from college put my bouquets together! Now, you may not all have DJ uncles or have taken the harp, but you may have family or friends who could fill in for free or low cost for some of the important wedding necessities.

5. Negotiate.  Vendor prices are not set in stone, contrary to what you might think! I negotiated to get a lower chair covering cost.  There was no way I was paying more than 2 bucks a chair for those puppies :)

6. Keep a smaller guest list. Most reception sites make you pay by the person, so the more people you have, the more it will cost! I had just under 100 people at my wedding. Yes, we didn't have any children and not all boyfriend/girlfriends were invited, but we kept a manageable and fair guest list that helped keep our costs low.

7. Use what you have....or what your friends have.  My wedding shoes were shoes I had bought for a college dance. My veil came from my sister's veil and my mother-in-law's veil. I found out AFTER I bought a puffy slip for under my dress from David's Bridal, that a friends had the same thing in the same size I could have just borrowed.  I mean, puffy wedding slips don't go bad haha. Certain things like shoes/jewelry/etc. can easily be borrowed.

8. Limit the hours of your vendors.  We only paid to have our photographer stay for part of the reception and had a friend cover the things like cutting the cake that took place towards the end of the reception. That way we did have a professional photographer for most of the important stuff, but were not in debt from it!

9. Be smart with the booze. We only paid for beer & wine up to $500.  (At the last minute, my new MIL decided to keep the tab going later into the night, but we ourselves did not pay for more than $500 worth!) Consider only doing an open bar for the cocktail hour or limit what is free from the bar.

10. Prioritize.  It's YOUR big day. Spend the most money on the things that really matter most to you.  I knew I wanted a gorgeous dress, but didn't really need extravagant centerpieces.  I wanted to be able to serve all my guests a meal but didn't need fancy invitations with tons of matching info cards and perfect calligraphy.  Figure out what you really want done nicely from the wedding, and allocate funds accordingly!!

The nitty gritty: hubby and I spent around $6,000 for our wedding of 100 guests held in February.  Affordable weddings can happen!

Washi Tape Craft Room Organizers

Lately I've been working on getting my craft room nice and organized and all girly-ed up. I want to save the final product for a "big reveal" but I thought I'd share a few "sneak peak" projects along the way!!

Here's what I'm sharing today: Washi Tape Covered Craft Room Organizers!!

I had bought a few of these 99 cent containers from IKEA awhile ago, and never had a purpose for them.
On a recent trip to IKEA I figured I would by the rail that they are meant to hang from (only $1.99!) so I could finally use them!!
The only thing about these containers was I had bought the white ones before, and they were just kind of bland.  And when I went back to IKEA I didn't really like the color of the pink or purple ones...so I decided I would try to cover them in Washi Tape to girly them up!

I used four different kinds of Washi Tape: the bottom three are from Pretty Tape on Etsy and the top one I got from a deal from The Plaid Barn

It was a little tricky getting the tape to lay straight....the one on the right I did first and you can really tell - hah!! At least I got better as I went along.

In the end I think they all turned out adorable!

I've got paint brushes in one; scissors, glue, & my rotary cutter in another; beading tools in the third, and some more random jewelry tools and glue sticks in the last.

Check out all these paint brushes!!! I really needed somewhere to keep them all!

I love my new organizers! I hung them up over my craft desk/work space. You'll be able to see how it all fits in when I do the big reveal....probably not for a little while still.  I've got lots of craft supplies to organize still!!

I'll be linking up to these parties:
