Yarn Wrapped Wine Bottle Vase

Alright. Confession: I drink a lot of wine. YUM!! There's just something so delicious and relaxing about sitting down in the evening with a nice glass of sweet white wine. The fact that it helps make me sleepy is also great.  Although, hubby has had to wake me up from my wine-induced slumber in front of the TV on more than several occasions...

Anyway. I save a lot of my wine bottles in hope of finding some purpose for them...and this project was a great upcycle for one of those bottles!

DIY Yarn Wrapped Wine Bottle Vase

Yes. This is sitting on my grill outside. I was having some lighting issues inside haha.

All you need to make this project is a hot glue gun, used wine bottle, and some yarn!
I also used this Silicone Craft Mat and the below hot glue gun finger caps for this project. Seriously BEST idea.

The dried hot glue would peel right off of the mat and the finger caps prevented my from getting any nasty glue gun burns while wrapping the bottle.

I didn't take any during pictures (bad blogger!) but I think anyone can figure out how to make it. I started at the bottom of the vase. Dab on a little hot glue and attach the yarn, then just continue wrapping it around the bottle hot gluing as you go until the whole thing is covered!

Here's a close up of the bottle. A few stray glue gun string still - whoops!

I got some dried eucalyptus from the freecycle in my town to put in the bottle.  This was my first freecycle, I was so excited!

So essentially, all this project cost me was the yarn. Since I had obviously enjoyed the wine on another occasion :)

I have my new vase sitting up on my bookshelf in my family room near my pom-pom flowers.

I love how it turned out, and how easy/cheap it was to make it.  That's my kind of decor!

Cat

Meet Cat

One day I came home from work and Cat was sitting in my flower bed meowing at me. So, being the sane person I am, I meowed right back at Cat. And then said go away.

But then  later that night Cat came around to our back door. I was alone in the kitchen at night and I glanced over to the back door and BAM.

See, Cat has these freaky looking eyeballs. This kinda helps show it:

AHHH!

And Cat doesn't meow like other Cats, it's kind of like a gurgely hiss meow. So those eye balls and gurgely hissing kinda freaked me out for a bit.

But, Cat didn't leave. And Cat swatted some bugs out of the air and ate them. And I really hate bugs. And I really am a sucker for helpless things.

So I feed Cat. Dog food. Hey, it was all I had.

And Cat kind of just kept coming back around after that....so, logically, I named her Cat and and bought her a food dish and Cat food from Target

Now Cat comes around at least every morning and evening for her breakfast and dinner. I took this picture one morning from our bedroom: she was waiting for us downstairs on our patio furniture!

And I snapped this one when I came home from work one day: taking a little cat nap on the patio waiting for us to come home :) I mean, that's just plain cute.

So, Cat and I are pretty close these days. Even though I'm allergic to cats. And have never liked them. But the first time I pet Cat she was just all skin and bones....and this ole heart of mine I guess had enough room for a little stray cat with a gurgeling hiss meow.

Gah. I love that little sucker.

#Revlon: Expression Experiment

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Revlon for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I was so lucky to get to try out a few great make-up products from Revlon recently, and wanted to share with you the looks I came up with!

The Revlon Expression Experiment encourages women to express themselves through their make-up and dare to do something a little different than they normally would!

Here's my scary before picture:

Gah!! I always wear makeup. My eyeballs look so neekid.

Anyway. I started would using a makeup primer and an eye-brightner.

I really liked the applicated for the eye-brightner, and it totally helped with those lovely little dark circles we all have!

After I had my base, I moved on to eye shadow.  I used Revolon color stay "seductive" eye shadow.

I used the darkest shade on most of my lid and the lightest on the top of the lid to highlight.

Here's my finished look!

Now...this is fine for everyday life, but the day I did this I had a wedding to go to! So, I threw my hair in some rollers....

Don't be jealous of this awesome look.

And then grabbed my new favorite lipstick: Revlon lip butter!

I had never actually worn red lipstick before...and I love it now!

I let out the rollers, put on some clothes (always a good idea I know), smacked on the lipstick, and voila!

Pow! just what I needed.

I also got some great nail polish sent to me, I can't wait to try that next!

I really enjoyed experimenting a bit with these new products. Revlon makes great, quality make-up that helps empower women...I know I felt better about myself after putting that lip stick on! Sometimes it's just those little things that really give you an extra boost of confidence :)

You want to give it a go? Join the self expression movement with the Revlon Expression Experiment Facebook application! And leave a comment letting me know what you think! What type of makeup would give you that extra POW and make you feel empowered??

Creamy Pepper Sausage Pasta Recipe

One of the things I have really enjoyed as a newly wed is getting into cooking! Mostly I just make food I find on Pinterest, but I'm beginning to experiment a little bit with making my own recipes as well :)

While making this dish, the lid to the pepper container fell off and I dumped a bunch in. I thought I ruined my sauce, but it actually tasted really good! Had a nice little kick to it.  It's one of hubby's favorite dishes I make!

Creamy Pepper Sausage Pasta

Ingredients:

-5 sausage links
-2 white onions
-4 cloves of garlic
-3/4 cup sour cream
-2/3 cup half and half
-3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
-1 t flour
-around 2 t pepper

Steps:

Pour a little olive oil in a large pan. Throw in the the two white onions chopped, sausage links, and minced garlic and cook on high heat.

Let the sausage cook until lightly brown then cut into bit size pieces.

After the sausage is done cooking, remove from pan, leaving in the caramelized onions and sausage "juices" to make the base of the sauce.

Reduce heat and combine the flour, sour cream, half and half, and cheddar cheese and stir until combined.  Add in pepper to your taste - I used a lot here hehe :)

After sauce is combined, throw the sausage back in and stir.

Serve over linguini and enjoy!

Yum!! It was very good. Let me know if you try it! :)
