DIY Cobalt Blue Cluster Necklace

I'm so happy with how this pretty little necklace turned out! It only required two basic techniques to make it as well, so a beginner jewelry maker could easily tackle this project!

Supplies needed for this necklace are a bunch of round beads, beading wire, head pins, crimp beads, chain, a clasp and jump rings. Tools needed are needle nose pliers, round nose pliers, and wire cutters.

The first step is to make a TON of simple loops with the blue beads. I did 57, to be exact :) To do so, string a bead onto a head pin

Bend the wire 90 degrees directly above the bead with needle nose pliers

Trim off excess wire using wire cutters leaving about a half an inch tail

Next use round-nose pliers to bend the tail into a circle. You can bend the circle all the way shut with the round nose pliers, or use needle nose pliers to help squeeze it all the way shut.

Next step is to cut a piece of beading wire and start to string on the cluster. I strung on one regular bead, then three of my simple loop beads. I pushed them together tight to create the cluster

To attach the cluster to chain to make the necklace, string on one or two crimp beads (I used two since my beads were pretty heavy for some extra strength!) and then crimp them to the end of the wire. For more detail on this process check out my post on how to use crimp beads

Lastly, just attach a clasp to the ends of the wire using a jump ring

I love the color of these blue beads. I think its a great color for winter, and wearing it as a necklace is a great way to give your outfit a pop of color!
