Jefferson's First Birthday

Since hubby and I don't have any kids yet, our dog Jefferson is totally our baby. And last Friday he turned one! So of course we had to celebrate

I mean, can we all just agree I have the cutest dog in the whole world? Seriously. Look at that little fluffy face.

Posing with Mommy and Daddy :)

I may or may not have been holding cheese in one hand and my iPhone in the other.  This dog sits his butt down real fast if he knows there is a chance to get food or toys.

And speaking of toys...I made sure to buy him a few. It was funny, the week of his birthday I came home with two shopping bags from my purchases.  Jefferson reached his head in and grabbed TWO toys out while I wasn't looking.  So I gave him one early haha.

But we helped him open up his other presents on his birthday.  This picture was very difficult to take. Jefferson loves fluffy squeaking toys so as soon as he opened up the gift of the yellow fuzzy squeaky ball, he was off to play with it.

We might be a little infatuated with this little guy :) Happy Birthday little Jefferson! Now just stop chewing on Mommy's shoes and eating cat poop (oh and everything else you like to get your paws on) and this next second year of life will be a LOT better for us all :)

Easy DIY Statement Necklace using Charms

Last week I shared a pair of 10-minute earrings and explained how jewelry making tends to take me a long time to design a piece and then create it. So it's a nice change when I make a project that comes together quick!!!  This is another project that is both quick AND easy to make.

The main reason? Most of the design of this necklace was done for me! The charms that make up this necklace have enough design so they made my job easy :)

Supplies
The chunky chain is from Prima Bead: 18in Chain Gunmetal Large Curb and the fun charms are also from Prima: 4pc Metal Charm Gunmetal/Black Teardrop. You'll also need jump rings, a clasp, and a small chain extension chain (optional), as well as a some needle nose pliers.

Steps
There are not many steps to this necklace! Very basic. All you need to know is how to use a jump ring. Use needle nose pliers to open a jump ring and attach a charm.

Attach the jump ring to the chain and then close.

Continue adding charms along the chain.

Attach a clasp and optional extension chain to the ends of the chain using a jump ring.

All done! See, I told you it would be easy.

I like how this necklace can jazz up a plain black tshirt instantly!

Surviving Seasonal Allergies with Kleenex

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Kleenex but all my opinions are my own. #KleenexAllergy #pmedia http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO

I have ALWAYS struggled with seasonal allergies.  I have memories from when I was a kid of being drug to the doctors every other week for allergy shots.  We had HOPED that those shots would help me build up an immunity, but I think they really did diddly squat. My allergies are just as bad as ever.

This weekend Kleenex came to my rescue.  One of my very good friends from high school got married - and the reception was in a barn. It was a beautiful set up, but a terrible location for those of us who suffer from allergies! Hay and dust were everywhere and I knew I didn't want to spend the whole reception sneezing and dealing with watery eyes, runny make-up, floating contacts and a snotty nose!

Luckily I thought ahead and stocked up with a Pocket Pack of travel size Kleenex that fit perfectly into the small purse I brought with to the wedding. Dealing with my allergies was so much easier: I didn't have to scrounge around looking for napkins or stash wads of tissues in hubby's pockets: whenever I needed them my Kleenex were close at hand neatly in their place.

I thought the worst of my allergies would be at the barn, but this time of year it seems like I never get a break. I made sure to keep my Kleenex handy while we got ready at the hotel. Have you ever sneezed with curlers in? Ouch.

Don't mind me, just rocking some curlers and blowing my nose!!

My Kleenex also came in handy during the wedding ceremony.  I uh, may have teared up just a little bit during the vows. I am such an emotional wimp at weddings!!!

We had a blast at the wedding. If only I could have left my allergies back at the hotel with that half-drunk bottle of wine someone snagged from the reception....but they followed me back home just like the massive small wine hangover as well... But luckily I'm stocked up with Kleenex at home to help make allergy season a little more bearable!

If you struggle with allergies or have any upcoming weddings and are an emotional wimp like me, now is the perfect time to shop for Kleenex at Target! I have an awesome coupon for you to print: buy a Kleenex 4 pack, get a free wallet pack or pocket pack! http://goo.gl/186og3 offer good while supplies last.

My Perfect Coffee Moment

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Georgia Coffee.

For me, it's the smell that's intoxicating. Robust. Bold. Deep. Strong. Delicious.

Whoops. Let me back up a second. This post is about coffee.  Now that makes a lot more sense!

I love to drink coffee, but I think I almost love smelling it a little more. For me, drinking coffee is just part of my routine. Every morning before I leave for work I brew a fresh cup, take a moment to just marvel in how delicious it smells, then throw in a bunch of sugar and creamer (hey I love coffee, I just like it extra sweet!!) and head out the door for work.  I drink it on my way in while I listen to the radio and just kind of chill.

So Monday-Friday, coffee is part of my regular routine. But like all routines...they get a little old.  I still enjoy my coffee every morning, but it's not my favorite time or place to enjoy it.

So what's my ideal situation to drink coffee? My perfect coffee moment?

Well for starters: I don't look like that when I drink it! It would be about 10:30AM on a Saturday morning. I'm clad in my fuzzy polka-dot robe with my hair piled on the top of my head, glasses on, slipper socks rocking on my feet, and I'm cozied up under a blanket on the couch. I've already eaten breakfast, cleaned the dishes, and have nothing else planned for the foreseeable future.  All I see is my laptop, a fat list of blogs and social media streams to catch up reading, and a steaming cup of coffee in my hand (topped with a little dollup of whip cream to be extra naughty because hey, it's the weekend!) That moment? THAT is when I REALLY enjoy my coffee.  That's what you could call my perfect "Georgia Coffee" moment.

DIY 10 Minute Leaf Earrings

I'm back with another Fall themed jewelry project!

I love making jewelry. I have to admit though: I'm really not that quick at it.  It takes me a long time to design a piece and then when I do get around to creating it I'm always watching a show at the same time and sometimes get distracted.

These earrings, however,  were a welcome change.  The design AND creation process really only took me about ten minutes.  Success! I think I need to work in a mix of more easy projects like this more frequently!!

These earrings don't take a lot of time, and they don't take many supplies either.  All you will need are some leaf charms (mine are from WholePort), large jump rings, a small jump ring, earring hooks, and needle nose pliers.

To start, open a jump ring and add on one leaf charm.

Close the first jump ring. Open a second jump ring and connect it to the first

Add a leaf charm onto either side and then close.

Continue until the earring reaches your desired length. On the last jump ring string on a small jump ring and then attach an earring hook to it.

Voila. A quick and easy pair of earrings!

I like how up close you can tell that they are leaves, but from further away they just look like silver dangles.

I think that makes them very fitting for fall, but still perfect to wear all year-round!
