This is How I Feel About....Matching My Clothes

Don't forget to enter my current giveaway, it ends tonight at 11:59PM! And also, my first Link Party, Your Whims Wednesday, starts on Wednesday!

Now. This is how I feel about matching my clothes.

I have a problem.  My outfits ALWAYS have to match. You will NEVER catch me wearing khaki and white, orange and red, or something like that.  Furthermore, I always have to coordinate everything I wear!! I match everything: shoes, shirt, jewelry, even underwear.  I mean, no one even sees my underwear. But the days when my underwear matches my outfit really well, I just feel extra good about myself.

Today for example, was a very good coordinating day.

Here is my gray: boots match my sweater which match my eyeshadow
Yeah, I know my face is really weird. YOU try and take a picture of yourself with your eyes closed and see if you do any better.

And the maroon parts of the outfit: Tshirt matches the flowers in my scarf, which match my flower earrings

And that doesn't even include my underwear!!! (No I will not be making a picnik collage of that too, don't worry...)

So what do you think? Am I crazy?? Is there some weird medical term for those who obsessively compulsively match their outfits all the time??? Is the dark side (the land of unmatched outfits, duh) really not as bad as I think it is???

This is How I Feel About....People Who Don't Wear Pants

Dear People Who Don't Wear Pants:

-Leggings are not pants. If they were, they would be called pants. And they are not. Thus, do not wear them as pants.

-If when you bend over in your spring dress/skirt I can see halfway up your uterus, you should probably wear pants.  Or leggings. Because leggings are ok when you wear them under short things. But, these short things must actually cover your butt.

Please don't force me to take anymore pictures of me with signs on my scarcely-legging-covered bum. Probably not the best thing to keep posting on the internet.

Pants are ok. They've been around for ages. Don't be afraid to embrace them. They just want to be your friend.  And save your tush. And reputation. Because who wants to be known as a No-Pants Pandy?? Not you.

And that's how I feel about people who don't wear pants....

This is How I Feel About....eBook Prices

This is How I Feel About eBook Prices

This is something that has been bugging me lately.

Now, I love my kindle.

I lovveeee to read and love having a kindle, but eBook prices are ridiculous.

Let's think this through.

Costs to make a physical book:
-paper
-binding
-ink
-printer
-distributing to stores
-author & publisher costs

Costs to make an ebook:
-author & publisher costs

No paper. No ink. Just words in cyber land. Please tell me why then, are ebooks hardly any cheaper than a physical book??? I understand that all books costs something to publish. You have to pay the author and the publisher for their time/advertising/etc. But to physically distribute and make eBooks costs next to nothing. Why then, do they cost almost the exact same as physical books!!

Look:
I read this whole series recently. But, the cost for the kindle book was MORE than a hardback. How is that even possible!!??

I sniff price collusion. You sly little publishers...I'm onto you. NOT COOL.

This is How I Feel About....Spam Verifiers

I hate them

I love leaving people comments on their blog. I hate always having to type in a slew of slanted letters to leave that comment.

A: I'm really bad at them. I can see fine, I promise, I just suck at reading those babies.

B: Half the time, I forget about them, so I leave a comment and exit out of the page, and then later realized I should have checked to see if I needed to type in those letters for the comment to post, so a lot of my comments never actually show up!

C: How much spam would you actually get if you did not have one? I have had my blog set up from the start without the spam verifier and never have had one spam comment. Also, I get emails of all my comments, so if I ever see a spam comment I could just go in an easily delete it myself. Plus, Blogger automatically checks for spam comments already, and puts any it thinks is spam in a special folder under your comments tab in dashboard, and you have to mark them as "not spam" before they are published.

So, if you want to not cheat yourself out of any comments, I recommended changing your settings. Go to settings, comments, and then check no in this box.

Do ittttt. Blogging is time consuming enough. Make it easier for people to leave you those comments you love so much receiving!!

This is How I Feel About....Bead Shows. Link up!!

Before I tell you how I feel about Bead Shows, here are some highlights from last week.  You can participate too! Scroll down to the bottom of the post for the link up

1.  Meg from In the Loop told me how she felt about Gwyneth Paltrow...complete with cliche piano crawling and all.
2. Of Pinks and Fairy Tales told me how she felt about the lack of creativity of shoe designers in the Phillipines, until she came across these interesting shoes!!
3. Alison from Stuff and Nonsense told me how she felt about her right armpit. HAH. Go read it.
4. Kristen from Who's Watching the Baby told me how she felt about negotiating wedding reception venues. As a gal hoping to be engaged in the near future (hey boyfriend! how are you? ;) ), I found it useful.
5. Jennifer from Two Butterflies told me how she felt about thrift stores. Different perspective from me!
6. Tashi told me how she felt about her new killer key-chain. It looks intense. Self-defense on steroids.

Now. How I feel about Bead Shows.

I've been attending bead shows for about 5 years now. I love it. Here are my experiences with them:

This is my favorite bead show of all:
Once a year this big boy comes to town and I save up all my money and set aside a whole day to go shopping. I have to park like miles away from the convention center, but love the walk in to the doors cause I see tons of minivans as I walk past with bumper stickers that say things like "Just Let me Bead and No One Gets Hurt," "Hot Bead Babe," and the like. Then, salivating slightly at the mouth, I open the doors, spend a ridiculously large cover charge just to get in, and am finally exposed to three levels of nothing but BEADS.

And let me tell you. THERE ARE SO MANY BEADS. As an open beadaholic, entering into a bead show is like one of the closet things to heaven on earth I've ever experienced. Everywhere you look there are just rows and rows and piles of piles of beads.

All other physical needs: hunger, thirst, the need to go to the bathroom, are forgotten as I spend hours up to my elbows in beads.

If you ever come to one of these shows and happen to find me wandering around listlessly by myself, a little drool coming out the side of my mouth, clothes disheveled, heavy burdened by bags and bags of beads, don't worry. This is normal. Eventually I'll remember that the pressing pain in my lower abdomen is my bladder, reminding me it still is,in fact, operating and needs to be attended too. I'll go pee...snap out of bead funk, and get back into shopping.

Another great thing about these shows are the people there.  I'm normally one of the youngest, and this is totally to my advantage.  When word of mouth starts spreading that the pewties booth is offering buy 5 vials, get 2 free, me and a herd of other women rush over and battle it out over prime bead picking places.  Those booth spaces are small, and my young little legs carry me over real quick and I have been known to be a little too forceful nudging my way into shopping spots. Note for the Record: Rebecca has never injured any bead show shoppers during a bead rush frenzy. I may be forceful, but I'm not mean.

The jewelry worn to bead shows is a big deal. Everybody wears the piece that they are most proud of because they know every other beader there will be judging you. I've seen more ginormous, beadwoven necklaces similar to these than I can count:

Now, I'm all for promoting creativity. And I know everyone has a different style. And I don't want to judge.  But tiger eyes???? Little frightening. I think i'll let these ladies in front of me at the Pewties booth.

This is how a typical conversation about a jewelry piece you are wearing goes:

Other shopper: "Did you make your necklace?" I know she made it.
Me: "Yes I did."
Other shopper: "That's nice. I like it." I could make it better.
Me: "Thank you! You're so sweet. I like yours too."  I wouldn't be caught dead wearing that.

There's some fierce competition at them bead shows. Let me tell you. These shows are not for the faint of heart.

Haha. Ok, maybe I exaggerate... a little. but not really... Despite all the craziness. I love um to death. Can't wait for the next one.

So. That's how I feel about bead shows.  Now link up and tell me how you feel about something!!!

This is How I Feel About....Thrift Stores. Link up!!

So, I'm gonna start a new thing.

I'm going to tell you how I feel about things. I don't know if anyone will care, but I figured I'd share.  AND you should be super cool and share back with me how you feel about anything in my link up below!!

So today I'm going to tell you how I feel about....

Thrift Stores

I've got to confess.

I'm afraid of them.

I feel like this is taboo for the crafty/deal seeking/bloggy world.  BUT I AM!!! Everyone always blogs about all their great thrifty finds and I'm so jealous. I don't have thrift skills. I have anti-skills. When I walk into a thrift store I feel a little vomit creep up in the back of my throat, that's how much anti-skill I have (ok maybe that only happened once...or twice...) Why am I so anti-thrift?? Here's why.

1. Thrift stores stink. You can't deny it. It always smells like moth balls/grandmother/BO/all rolled into one. It hits me right as I enter the door and I cannot get passed the scent.

2. They are overwhelming. They are filled of rows and rows of used clothes and there may be some hidden gems in there, but there is so much searching through overalls, 80s garb and used underwear (seriously, WHO does that???) required to find them!

3. Thrift stores are always so messy. I don't like digging through things.
Source
4. Whenever I'm in there, there is always someone who is like 500 pounds or has no teeth or is wearing something really funky and it makes me feel awkward...

Something similar to these goodies found on www.peopleofwalmart.com - hysterical website by the way
And yes, that is a thong hanging out in the picture to the right. Yikes.

5. I worry that the clothes I'm buying used to belong to a person similar to above, and that thought alone makes the vomit creep up the back of my throat a little faster...

So in general, I just can't deal. I know it's super cheap and great but I just don't think I'm cut out for it. But, you have all inspired me. I have actually recently asked boyfriend if he wanted to go thrifting with me. (Moral support/vomit control). We'll see how it goes...

So what about you? Have anything you'd like to share your feelings on? It doesn't have to be thrift stores (but it could :) ) Be cool and link up and I'll share some highlights from the post next Monday when I do another post. If you throw in my blog button in your post, I'd love you forever. But if not, I'll still love you for half of forever for just linking up. And that's not half bad if you ask me.
