Vintage Style Dresses from Shabby Apple

If you've been around blog land for a bit, I'm sure you seen many posts about Shabby Apple.

Shabby Apple creates BEAUTIFUL clothes, but they are most well known for their vintage clothing looks with a modern twist! My favorite pieces are their dresses - they have so many beautiful designs!

They also have a wide variety of styles - formal, casual, and many in between.

This is one of their formal gowns I'm crushing on - it's titled the Mullholland and I just LOVE the lace details and timeless elegance it has!

I was lucky enough to get to test out a Shabby Apple myself, but I went a little more practical.  I have to dress up for work every day during the week so I picked out the Truman dress, which is perfect to wear into the office.

It has a fun cowl neck and some extra volume in the sleeves that really makes that plain black dress much more than plain.

It's also very modest for work.  Maybeeee just a tad too modest :) No, I actually had to size-up because they were out of my size and so this one hits me a little long, but if you ordered true to your size it would probably better.  And nothing a quick little hem can't fix!

Another thing I really liked about this dress is the material that it is made out of.  It's a cotton so it is very comfy but also THICK which was so nice since our fall temperatures here in PA are getting very chilly very quick!!!

DIY Chain & Charm Necklace

 

Most of the time my jewelry making projects are sparked by materials: from just playing around with different beads and waiting for inspiration to hit. That's really where this necklace came from. I got these two different beads from a bead show over a year ago. When I cut them off their strands and put them in a bead organizer I put them right next to each other. I just love how turquoise and gold look together!

So finally, after about a year of staring at the beads in their neighborhing cubbies, I decided to make something with them (I have bead hoading problems and bead project usage commitment issues...)

I started by making links with my gold beads.  To do so, string them onto an eye pin and create a simple loop on the other end.

Next, I grabbed a bunch of different sizes of gold chain. I wanted a little variety and spice in this necklace. That's how spicey my life is. Different chunky chain in one necklace. WOWZAS watch out folks. If you can't hadle this much spice feel free to use just one type of chain.



 

I cut my chain into about two inch incraments and attached them together with a gold bead link,

 

And then to keep things spicey, I made THREE strands. Ow ow. You just can't keep up with this necklace can you? You can make more or less strands depending on how chunky you like your necklaces. Or depending on how chunky you like your men. Or depending on how chunky you like your applesauce. All of these things have chunks. Ok. Scratch all that.  Make how many strands you like based on how chunky you like your necklaces and lets keep men and applesauce out of it.



 

Next I took those pretty little turquoise beads and strung them onto a head pin and created another simple loop at the top.

 

Then I attached the charms to the middle of the different chain links. I bet you weren't expecting that were you? Ok. maybe you were since I posted a picture of the end result of this necklace at the beginning of this post. You sneaky little fools.



 

After all my charms were added on, I attached all three strands to a jump ring and added on a clasp to finish off the necklace. 

 

And that's all there is too it!

What a beautiful combo. I just love these two colors together.

Jefferson's First Birthday

Since hubby and I don't have any kids yet, our dog Jefferson is totally our baby. And last Friday he turned one! So of course we had to celebrate

I mean, can we all just agree I have the cutest dog in the whole world? Seriously. Look at that little fluffy face.

I may or may not have been holding cheese in one hand and my iPhone in the other.  This dog sits his butt down real fast if he knows there is a chance to get food or toys. 

And speaking of toys...I made sure to buy him a few. It was funny, the week of his birthday I came home with two shopping bags from my purchases.  Jefferson reached his head in and grabbed TWO toys out while I wasn't looking.  So I gave him one early haha.

But we helped him open up his other presents on his birthday.  This picture was very difficult to take. Jefferson loves fluffy squeaking toys so as soon as he opened up the gift of the yellow fuzzy squeaky ball, he was off to play with it. 

We might be a little infatuated with this little guy :) Happy Birthday little Jefferson! Now just stop chewing on Mommy's shoes and eating cat poop (oh and everything else you like to get your paws on) and this next second year of life will be a LOT better for us all :)
