Registering!

Last night fiance and I went to register! I was very excited. We choose the promised land to do our main registering at:

Ohh yeah. I love me some target.

I was actually a little nervous about registering because the boy and I have very different styles (aka, I have one, he doesn't. sorry dear) and I thought it would be a whole lot of arguing. But everything actually worked out fine! And not much arguing at all :)

I let him do the honors of scanning the very first item: a microwave! Very exciting.

And then I scanned the second item...a vacuum cleaner! And then I hogged the gun for the rest of the trip and made the boy hold the list haha.

We decided to purchase our comforter awhile, because the wedding is still awhile away and we weren't sure if this one we liked would still be there when people went to get us gifts. Then we registered for matching sheets and stuff. Plus we had some "couple" money from our engagement for us to spend. I was very excited for our first "this is for our life together" purchase.

This is the bedding we got:

Pretty, eh?? We're going to go with a silver/navy theme in the bedroom.

Here are some of the other goodies we put on the list:
The most expensive item by far was the $250 Kitchen Aid mixer. Fiance thought it was frivolous. I told him every girl dreams of one day owning her own Kitchen Aid mixer. Plus, if he ever wanted homemade baked goods this was a must. I'm not a hand mixer kinda gal.
I also registered for a sewing machine!! Yay!! Now I just need to learn how to sew something besides pillows....

Look at this beauuuutiful shower curtain we found. Love. It's going to make me want to shower every day. Well, I do already. But....still....ok. nvm.

Our main registry is at target but we're also going to have an amazon wish list for some random things. A little unconventional I guess for wedding registries, but we don't care. We love amazon. Plus, they have that new button so now you can add things to your amazon list from anywhere on the web! Currently I have this super cute apron on there:

And this patchwork squirrel kit from etsy. Maybe I should take that off. Especially since the instructions are in Japanese. dagnabit.

Dollar Store 1920s Inspired Headband

You may remember me mentioning in this post that I was attending a murder mystery dinner this weekend. It was 1920s/godfather themed, and I was so excited for it.  While researching what to do with my costume, I saw I totally could make my own 1920s styled headband. So I did: for three bucks! Thank you dollar store. Here's the final product:

So cute! Totally made my costume. Especially cause my dang fishnets kept falling down all night. But let's save that story for awkward and awesome Thursdays, shall we? ANYWAY. Here's how to make one!

Supplies:
-stretchy headbands
-black feathers
-rhinestone accent
-felt or ribbon
-hot glue
-scissors

Steps:

Step 1: Gather feathers. I used black feathers already attached to a cheap headband. I'm glad it was cheap cause those babies pulled right off!

Step 2: Prepare your rhinestone accent. Mine came attached to a hair band, so I just cut off the elastic part.

Step 3: Hot glue the rhinestone accent on top of the feathers

Step 4: Hot glue the elastic headband onto the feathers, and use felt or ribbon to cover it up. I would normally use felt, but I made this on vacation so I didn't have any on hand. Grosgrain ribbon worked fine, and I just burned the edges so it wouldn't fray.

And voila! All done! Easy peasy. Your very own 3 dollar 1920s style headband.

I'll be sharing this with all the link parties in my header including Today's Creative Blog and Christina's Adventures

My favorite project of hers is this adorable mobile she made for a friend:

Isn't that owl SO CUTE???

She actually sells all her cute creations in her Fairly Fabulous etsy shop

Awkward and Awesome Thursdays

Awkward
- Weird sunburn lines. I have a random rectangle of bright red on my left arm and side boob burns on either side of my bosom. Must learn to apply sunscreen to side boob and arm rectangle.

-The little foam padding that comes in bathing suits. It gets really lumpy and I want to take it out, but then I get nippilitis. Thus, I try to even it out but it never works and I always end up looking like I have strange lumpy boobs.

-When someone you are talking to gets nipplitis, but only on one boob. And your holding a conversation with them and you have to try really really hard to focus on their eyes and not their lopsidedness.

-The fact that at 20 years old, I still cannot hook my bra strap behind my back. I always have to do an awkward battle over my head or do the hook-in-front-slide-to-the-back dance. Am I the only one untalented like this? Is everyone else in the world super skilled at bra hooking? Did I miss that class in health class in middle school or something?

-THE FACT THAT ALL OF MY AWKWARDS ARE ABOUT BOOBS SOMEHOW. Sorry about that one....

-Ok let's switch it up a little...butts. People who get butt sweat. Have you seen them before? Chronic butt sweaters? I just feel so bad and awkward for them walking around in public with sweaty pants. Having to go through life, all alone, just them and their soaked through trousers and bum sweat. Ok, they are probably not all alone. SOMEONE must be able to look past the bum sweat secretion. Not me though, and thus I am very happy fiance has a very normal sweat excretion. Aka. Not from his bum.

Awesome
-Being on vacation! Lots of bloggy time, relaxing time, and time to read!!

-I hit 600 followers this week! YAY

-247 days until I get married. YAY YAY

-I have my first OFFICIAL blog sponsor, Meagan from Fairly Fabulous! Look for a post about her tomorrow. pst. want to be a sponsor too? check out my advertising page

-I'm going to a murder mystery dinner on Saturday!!! It's 1920s Godfather themed. I've been practicing my New York/slightly Italian accent (and failing miserably by the way) and preparing my flapper-inspired outfit.  Look for a DIY feather headband project on Sunday night!

-The lovely sun-kissed blond color all this time on the beach is giving my hair. Ok. and a little sun-in along the way might have helped a little as well...

blonde...ish!
