A Lovely Weekend & Giveaway Info & Twitter

Two quick announcements: I have a giveaway going on at Fairly Fabulous until tomorrow at noon pacific time. Check it out!

Also, I have twitter now! Won't you please follow me? I think I'm really going to enjoy this tweeting shinbiz. Follow me @MyGirlishWhims

Just thought I'd share some pictures from the weekend! I started working full time for the summer the day after I got back from college and haven't had a day off until this weekend. It was so nice to have some chill time!

Fiancé and I had our 2 year anniversary this past Thursday. With me blatantly telling him slightly hinting at the fact I would appreciate flowers, I got 24 roses at work, 1 for each month we had been together. *squee*

Here they are driving home with me for the weekend. Buckle up kids, it's the law.

We went out to the Melting Pot for dinner, and ordered the WHOLE SHEBANG!! Normally we are just cheap-oh and get cheese and chocolate fondue, but we sprang for the whole meal deal tonight. Maybe because FIANCÉ GOT A JOB OFFER this week for a real live big boy job! He's been working at Best Buy since college, but got an offer to work full time in the IT department of an engineering firm. Paid vacation, benefits and everything. Now we won't have to live in a box after we get married. Happy happy!

We got this little cutie (heart you Melting Pot peeps. even if you suck out our souls errr wallets every time we visit):

Not our best pictures ever. Oh well. It was yumbo.

Then Saturday fiancé and I went to a little banquet for the Civil Air Patrol (group he volunteers at and gets to do manly things with and feel important). Banquet was boring, but at least I got to dress up pretty! Like how we match? Yeah, I'm that girl who matches her significant other whenever possible. Don't judge.

Lovely weekend :)  PS. I'll be posting engagement pictures this week sometime. Yay!!

Send me some Questions!!

Soooooo....due to recent life events I'm thinking I need to update my about me page.  Not exactly sure what to add/change though....so if anyone has any suggestions or questions for me about my life, my crafting, my boy, why cheese has to have so many calories, why hedgehogs are illegal to own in Pennsylvania, the meaning of life, etc, etc, etc, I'd love to answer um. Leave me a comment? It would make me happy :)

PS. Don't forget to enter my giveaway with Little Country Bumpkins! It ends tonight!!

PSS. Best part about coming back to school after being engaged...ENGAGEMENT POSTERS WHOOOOOO

Versatile Blogger!

The lovely Jen from Life, Crafts and Whatever nominated me for another bloggy award.
Aw shucks Jen, you're just tooooo sweet :)

Here's how to play along:

1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers.
4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award, and
let the giver know you accept the award!

1. For Thanksgiving this year, I was in Spain.  So, instead instead of gathering with family over a home cooked meal full of turkey and mashed potatoes, I enjoyed some authentic Spanish Tapas and wine with three friends on my study abroad program.
haha, I had some tapas in my mouth for this picture...
so many tapas!!! yum!!!
2. My favorite band is Switchfoot. Anything that Jon Foreman does really.  He came to my college and I got to meet him.  This is how it went down:
Me- Jon Foreman! Hello, I'm Becca *handshake*

Jon- Hello!

Me- Can I ask you a question?
Jon- Sure
Me- are you married?
Jon- Yup *shows ring*
Me- That is really depressing. Can I at least get a picture?
Jon- *laughs* sure

What are you doing hair?? Ohhh Jon Foreman. Too bad he has the whole caveman look going on here. Oh well. I still like him.
3. I have a collection of bobble head turtles from when I was a tween. Don't really know what to do with them all now...
No, I don't have this many...but I do have a lot!!

4. One of the most beautiful places I have ever visited was in St. Nazaire, France this past semester. Cliffs, rocks, ocean, and the sun making the ocean sparkle so beautifully

5. I can make some balloon animals.  Dogs, giraffes, and mice. Mostly because they are all made the
same...but have different proportions.

It's a very intense process...kind of...not really.
6. I used sun-in in my hair one summer, and now it's stayed like permanently blondish.  I'm ok with it.

Tan and Brunette...

Tan/Sunburned and Blonde! And with a boyfriend haha.
7. I go to the gym a lot to try to keep this tush in shape.

That's right...I exercise in style...haha. Not.
To play along...here is who I pass it along to!!

Eh. 12 is close enough to 15. Haha. Have fun ladies!

I'm a STYLISH Blogger!

The lovely Jennifer from Life, Crafts, and Whatever ....

Was sweet enough to nominate me for the Stylish Blogger Award!!!

She probably didn't see my post with me wearing my snuggie.  Then maybe we could have a chat about style. :P

Anyway. I'm super pumped! Thanks so much Jennifer :)

Here are the rules that come with the Award:

1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers.
4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award!

Here are my 7 things about myself:

1. I play the harp. I've been playing for about six years, and just bought a legit big pedal harp.  On occasion I have been know to hug and kiss this instrument. And when I say on occasion, I mean a lot. These puppies are not cheap to buy.  But, I got a good deal on mine and have a good payment plan worked out for it. I love to play :)

2. I just studied abroad last semester. I lived in Nantes, France for a little under four months, and had a BLAST being immersed in another culture. I also loved traveling while I was abroad: I went to Ireland, England, Italy, and Spain.  I will always remember this super fun experience, and really can't wait until I can go back!

3. I'm a college gal graduating in less than a year. I have enough credits in so I'm graduating a semester early.  When people ask me why, I say to save $10,000 tuition buckaroos, but really it's so I can get MARRIED to boyfriend. :)  I've enjoyed college, but I'm ready to move on with life.

Just chilling out around campus looking fancy smanchy

4. I can't wait to be married and have babies. Whenever I see babies I squeal. Audibly. New mothers probably get freaked out by me.  I used to want to be some high-powered career woman, but now I just want to graduate, get married, enjoy life for awhile, and then have BABIES. And maybe stay home with them. I secretly get jealous of all those bloggers who are married and in school or are cute, young, stay at home moms. Cause they're everywheeerrreee.

Me and my niece. Love her!

5. I love squirrels. Some people may see them as rodents. I see them as the most adorable-fuzzy-wuzziy-cutie-pies ever.  I really wish I could have one as a pet.

6. I have a big butt. My roommates freshman year nicknamed me Becca Butt.  Jeans are an issue. Tights are an issue.  Cat-calls from construction workers are an issue.

Mimicking is the best form of flattery...(yes those are pillows in my old roommates pants)
7. I'm a big girly girl. I love pink. Practically everything I own is pink.  I'm not very good at controlling my emotions and cry at practically every movie I see.  I have a shoe addiction. And a dress addiction. And a bead addiction. And now a newfound crafting supply addiction. Uh oh.

This is my closet....after I took out all my clothes to bring to college.  I love shopping :)
Well that was fun :)

Here is who I have chosen to give the award to!

Have fun you stylish ladies!

About Me

Hi there! I'm Rebecca and I'm so glad you've found your way over to my little blog here.

About Me

My name is Rebecca Grafton and I'm a 27 year old girly girl from the Philly suburbs area.  This blog is devoted to all of my girly ways of life! I love to cook healthy meals, craft and make jewelry, and wear cute outfits ;)  I currently work full time as an insurance salesperson and live with my boyfriend in the Montgomery County, PA which is about 45 minutes outside of Philadelphia.

On my blog I share many DIY tutorials but I'm a major beadaholic and have been making jewelry since I was a kid. Jewelry making is my creative passion and what I do when I have free time and want to relax. To me there is nothing better then sitting down in my craft room on a Saturday afternoon with some Gilmore Girls episodes on repeat, a hot cup of sugary coffee, a seasonal candle burning from Bath and Body works, and the whole afternoon ahead of me to just BEAD!

I am also very passionate about living a healthy lifestyle and big portion of that is that I love to cook and create healthy recipes! I recently lost 100 pounds and have received a decent amount of press recognition for my weight loss transformation. It took me two years to lose 100 pounds and during that time I truly developed a love for finding and creating new recipes that were healthy but still tasted amazing.  I'm so happy to be able to share these recipe ideas with you on my blog!

Last but not least, I'm a big girly girl at heart.  I feel under-dressed if I'm not wearing at least two-inch heels at work, I love to color coordinate my accessories to my outfits so much that it might verge on slightly obsessive, and I just ultimately love putting together cute, girly outfits. I hope you enjoy a peek into my daily style on a budget.

The Back Story

I started "My Girlish Whims" when I was a junior at Grove City College.  It was 2010 and craft blogs were all the rage! I started my blog to share tutorials on how to make jewelry, how I decorated my dorm room, and just basically a lifestyle blog keeping up with my life.  I blogged through-out getting engaged, getting married, moving into my first home, and starting out life as a newly-wed.

Through a series of personal events, I am now divorced and feel like I am starting life all over again, happier than I have ever been.  There are many posts in my archives about my previous relationship and life, and many moments that were shared on this blog during that time of my life.  I won't delete those posts because there WAS a time when I was very happy with that life, but people grow and change and ultimately things did not work out for me and that lifestyle.

Where I am Now

So here I am now: 27, the best shape I've ever been in my life, and very much excited for what the future holds for me.  I am truly a happy and positive person and I wake up each morning feeling so blessed for my health, my family, friends and salvation, and the people who follow along with my journey online and see me as an inspiration and motivation for them. I'm excited to continue to share tips on my blog for weight loss and healthy living, tutorials from my creative endeavors, and just overall just snippits of my personal life who any one who cares to follow along the whims of a girl who is a little too addicted to wine for her own good and slightly obsessed with posting on instagram.
